With the summer swiftly approaching, many people's minds are turning to their annual fortnight in the sun. What new clothes they need, will the swimming costume still fit, what luggage to take, and most importantly how to save weight. Coir matting is something that more and more people are taking on holiday with them every year in a bid to cut down on the weight of their baggage – and increasingly expensive luxury in itself. By far and away the heaviest thing you'll take to a sunny country is your beach towel – so why bother? A similar sized roll of coir matting with weigh but a fraction of a heavy beach towel, especially when it's wet!

Sure you can't dry yourself on coir matting, but you'll have the sun to do that if you're down the beach. There'll also be plenty of towels at the hotel for your general washing needs, so you don't need a towel for that either.

Coir matting is also incredibly easy to clean, meaning that one spilt drink or dropped ice lolly on the first day doesn't mean you become a wasp magnet for the rest of the trip. It is also highly resistant to salt water damage, which makes it ideal for trips down the beach where pretty much everything ends up covered in salt one way or another.
